
RunnersWorld Tulsa offers 100% FREE training groups for both begining runners, as well as those who want to train for a Marathon.
Our Newbies program is perfect for anyone just starting out, or building their running skill, and our Marathon program is for more advanced runners who are ready for that first long distance run. Many of our marathon trainers started in the Newbies program the year before! Whatever level you are at, we would love to help you achieve your training goal and running with a group is one of the best ways to grow and learn while having FUN!

"NEWBIES" Let's Get Fit Program

| Who: | The "NEWBIES" Let's Get Fit Program - developed by RunnersWorld Tulsa and led by a really dedicated team of individuals. |
| What: | The "NEWBIES" Let's Get Fit Program is a free walking/running training program designed for beginner runners, slower runners, and walkers. This is a sixteen week program designed to get you up off the couch, out the door and on your way to a more active and healthier lifestyle. Our program is based on your individual level of fitness and it allows you to progress at your own comfortable pace. For the first months the workouts will be by time and then gradually move into training for specific distances. We will encourage the participants to set goals and volunteers will be on hand to lead various paces and distances. Each week the group will hear a short talk on several topics, such as how to prevent injuries, or how to stay motivated, etc. |
| Orientation & Sign-up: | New groups are forming for the Oklahoma City Marathon and Half Marathaon. You may sign up now!!! Just stop by RunnersWorld, talk to Kathy or Brian and fill out your forms. |

| When: | Workouts are on Tuesday & Thursday - 5:30 P.M. and Saturday - 8:00 A.M. |
| Where: | Workouts will start at 69th & Riverside trail parking lot. Thursdays run begins at RunnersWorld |
| Why: | NEWBIES is RunnersWorld Tulsa's response to the current nationwide phenomenon of inactivity in people of all ages. This inactivity has directly led to a nation with a growing obesity problem with all kinds of associated health problems, including heart disease, high blood pressure, and high stress levels, in our general population. The NEWBIES hope to introduce average people to the joys of exercise by creating an atmosphere of acceptance, camaraderie, accomplishment, and fun. |

Our Marathon Training program is free as well and can help you reach that milestone goal! We can teach you how to properly prepare for long distance running including not only distance and pacing while training, but also proper nutrition and rest, injury prevention, stretching, etc...
